Job Description

A new, exciting opportunity has arisen within the newly established Community Services partnership between Runnymede & Surrey Heath Borough Councils, to be responsible for the management and ongoing development of the Community Transport & Meals at Home services, provided across both Boroughs.

The Community Transport service operates with a fleet of 20 vehicles across the two Council areas and provides a range of transport services to individuals unable to access mainstream public transport and to voluntary and community organisations requiring affordable transport in delivering their own services. Transport contracts are also undertaken around other commitments.
The Meals at Home service operates with 8 vehicles across both Boroughs, delivering approximately 275 meals per day, seven days a week to some of the most vulnerable residents within the local communities served.

You will be tasked with providing leadership to both service areas in the development of services and the undertaking of new opportunities, working in a manner that places the residents who access the services at the forefront of every decision, but working with a commercial approach in doing so. You will be responsible for a large team of staff across both Boroughs and also for the management of the fleet of vehicles with which the services are provided.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong management skills, an understanding of both Community Transport and Meals on Wheels services and be able to demonstrate experience in delivering front line, customer facing services. You will need to be able to work in a business-like manner and be able to work flexibly, in an organised way and be able to remotely manage both services.

Employed by Runnymede Borough Council on behalf of both authorities, you will be required to work flexibly across two sites in Chertsey and Camberley as well as attend meetings etc. in other areas as and when required. Therefore access to your own transport is essential, for which an essential car user allowance and mileage allowance will be paid.

Whilst the role does not have a requirement to undertake driving for the services on a day to day basis, in the event of an emergency such support may be required. Therefore a D1 category on your driving licence is desirable but not essential. An enhanced DBS clearance is also required.
