SHBC – Assistant Planning Officer
Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career in Planning. We are looking for a self-motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic person to join our Planning Policy and Conservation Team. You will be involved in producing the Councils Local Plan documents and in helping to produce the background evidence for the Councils Local Plan documents. You will be involved in maintaining and producing databases, providing information to other organisations and assisting in enquiries to provide up to date monitoring information. You will have the opportunity to produce reports and research documents in support of the Local Plans process.
The Councils Planning Policy Team produces the Land Use Plans for the Borough. You will be responsible for collecting and collating background evidence and information, including maintaining the Local Plans database. Duties will include dealing with the public. This is a busy team and you must be able to work flexibly and to deadlines.
Excellent communication and team working skills together with the ability to use databases and other Microsoft Office Systems will be essential. Some training in specialised IT systems is available.
